A simply extraordinary unheated untreated estate Red Spinel and diamond Ring, featuring a gorgeous Unheated spinel from Burma weighing an impressive 3.03ct. The spinel is a stunning slightly orangey red in colour, appearing almost vermilion in sunlight - absolutely magnificent. The spinel is eye clean to all but the eagle eyed, with some two phase inclusions (tiny crystals and circular inclusions) visible under a loupe - this is an extremely lively and bright gem, exceptionally pretty indeed. The diamonds are clean and white and total 1.21ct. The top of the ring is 900 platinum, while the shank is 14k gold. I understand that this was because the ring was originally tiny, and the jeweller did not have platinum to work with, so he re-made the shank out of 14k gold. If this was Burma ruby instead of Burma spinel, you would have to put a zero at the end of the price!
